Pella, Iowa

Hats off to the Historic Vermeer Windmill

Pella, Iowa is a small town founded by Dutch immigrants in 1847, and it still wears that heritage proudly. The Vermeer Mill towers over downtown — a fully operational Dutch windmill and one of the tallest in the country. Every spring, the town hosts Tulip Time, when the streets fill with tulips, wooden shoes, and Dutch-style architecture on full display.
