Hat’s Off to the Hopkins Raspberry Festival!
The 2022 Raspberry Festival was the best one yet!
The Hopkins Raspberry festival started in 1935, when growing raspberries was a key part of farming in the area. Even now, when you walk through the alleys of Hopkins you see many residents growing their own.
The Raspberry Festival is held the third weekend of July, culminating with the Raspberry Parade on Sunday at 1PM. Because Hopkins has an old-fashioned main street (named “Mainstreet”), people come from all over the metro to participate in events, especially the parade.
Hats off in particular to the volunteers who run the festival!

When it gets closer to the event, you can see the events on their website: http://www.raspberrycapital.com/
Here are a list of our favorite events, except the parade:
- Kids Fishing at Shady Oak Lake: volunteers from the Hopkins VFW run the event and donate the fishing poles, which the kids can take home.
- Golden Raspberry Medallion Hunt
- Chalk Art on the Artery
- Local Music Acts
- Fireworks on Saturday evening
- Marketplace Fair on Saturday
- And much more!
If you are planning to attend the Hopkins Raspberry Festival, the most important days to mark on your calendar are Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is one big party, starting with the Marketplace Fair, moving on to Central Park for music, and the day ends with a Fireworks show. Sunday, of course, is the Grande Day Parade.
If you have children, one of the best events to attend is the Kids Fishing day. The Hopkins VFW really makes this event wonderful for children by teaching them to fish, providing lunch, and even raising money to buy a fishing pole for each child!
