Sedona

Hats off to Sedona

Sedona is known for its dramatic red rock buttes and canyons, set against a backdrop of deep blue Arizona sky. Beyond the scenery, the town has a reputation for hiking trails, art galleries, and even self-proclaimed energy vortexes that draw visitors looking for a spiritual experience.

It makes for an easy day trip from the Phoenix area — about 117 miles and normally a two-hour drive up I-17. Just budget extra time: I-17 gets crowded with fellow day-trippers heading the same direction, and the drive can feel a lot longer than the mileage suggests.
